The Road and the Meteor

This morning I finished reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, and just now I viewed the video of the meteor that fell to the earth in Calgary Canada the other night.

Had the asteroid hit the earth in a populated area, the resulting carnage and devastation might have matched that of the post-apocalyptic world described in the book.

Very disturbing.

"We are all going to hell in a hand basket" comes to my mind. Not sure about the origin of that saying, but I'll be looking it up.

To "hell in a hand basket" or to "infinity in a Soul Pod?" It's time you met eb, The Other Card Shark.

Go knock on the door of emeraldpillows.org. Tell her you like Canasta, red wine, and Prunella (in that order).

I've never played Canasta. My grandmother did. I should like to learn considering I'll officially be an old lady in 2010 and, in my estimation, all old ladies need to know how to play Canasta with their old lady friends.

Surely you prefer red wine over Canasta. I prefer red wine, qat and Prunella.

It's nice to meet you, I'm eb, btw, I've heard some things about you. Yes, they're all bad.

bad is good, better than boring.

You realize that on the eve of your birthday in 2010, old lady-hood will hit you like a pallet of bricks.

happy 2009 -- last chance to be a kid!
